The Mag-P.I.E. Portable Power Pack model NPT-1000 is the most sophisticated portable power pack in the MPI industry. It is a specialized instrument for generating intense magnetizing and demagnetizing current fields for the magnetic particle inspection method of flaw detection in ferrous metals. This unit provides AC or DC output currents of up to 2,000 amperes in both Normal and Pulse Modulation modes. The NPT-1000 employs the same style and functionality as the old T.S.I. Portamag units but incorporates microprocessor-based SCR phase controller, Automatic Electronic Demag, and Pulse Modulation circuitry into the overall design.

The NPT-2000 has several advantages over all competitors’ brands on the market:

• Firstly, it produces the highest current output than any other MPI power pack on the market today. The Maximum output is 1,000 Amperes using 20-foot, 4/0 cabling. Wrap the part under test with three turns of 4/0 cable and this unit will produce 3,000 Amperes of current.
• Secondly, it employs Automatic Electronic Demagnetization. There’s no need to manually turn the current dial to zero by hand. Simply select Demag on the front panel and press the remote control switch. The control microprocessor will do the rest.
• Thirdly, the Pulse Modulation feature creates a vibration, within the part being tested, that physically moves and arranges the magnetic particles more easily into the flaws & cracks of metals under test, for better flaw detection. This feature is highly regarded by the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army and exceeds MIL and Industrial performance requirements. The Pulse Modulation feature reduces output cable heating and power consumption by as much as 70%.
